What you need to know to purchase GIK 3.0

Q. Can my computer run GIK?
A.
You’ll need to look at your system specifications and make sure they match up with GIK 3.0 System Requirements as follows:

Pentium or AMD 1.6GHZ CPU
512MB System Ram
500MB System free Hard drive space
Windows XP w/ SP2 or Windows 2000 w/ SP4


Q. Do I need a server to run GIK?
A. No.

You can run SQL express and GIK 3.0 on a workstation or a server and share the GIK database with other workstations on the network.


Q. Can GIK 3.0 fit the size of my non-profit organization?
A. Yes - GIK uses Microsoft’s new SQL Express database.

This allows GIK to run as a single computer model or as a client/server model that allows multiple computers to use the same database. If your business grows beyond SQL Express, GIK 3.0 can easily be moved directly to Microsoft’s new enterprise database SQL Server 2005.


Q. How much training will I need to run GIK?
A.
GIK 3.0 was designed to be powerful but simple to use.
With just a little training (5 to 10 min) volunteers can start entering data. Reports are a snap, managers and controllers can start running reports with 2 clicks of the mouse button.


Q. How much setup time is involved to start using GIK?
A. Most Rescue Missions can start using GIK 3.0 immediately.

GIK 3.0 is preloaded with over 1,100 items, 5 categories, and 1 location; all with prices and high/low values. Rescue Missions can add an unlimited number of Items, Categories, and Locations to accommodate a Mission of any size.


Q. Is there any security for GIK?
A. Yes.

Administrators can add or remove users to the program and give or deny rights to every aspect of the GIK software.


Q. What is the cost to get GIK for the first year?

To purchase GIK 3.0 you’ll need just a few items.

At the end of the year your CPA or Controller can enter the date range for the yearly cycle, print or view the sum of all your Gift-in-Kind accumulated for the year and report it on your Rescue Missions taxes. SIMPLE.


Q. How is GIK going to help my Donors?

Q. Can my old GIK data be transferred to GIK 3.0?
A. Yes.

Old Gift-in-Kind data can be transferred to GIK 3.0 Program for $150 for up to 2 hrs, and then $60/hr after that. Just send us your old Gift-in-Kind data and we’ll estimate the cost to transfer it to GIK 3.0.
